Summer Activities at Chalet Le Moulin

Summertime starts almost the moment the snows recede in April and the temperature soars. Alpine flowers burst into bloom and the hiking trails beckon. The mountain scenery, lakes, pretty chalets, sunny weather,  and carpets of  Alpine flowers combine to make the valley and surrounding mountains arguably some of the prettiest scenery in the world. We have hammocks, sun loungers, space for the kids to play outside all day, but should you feel like doing something energetic...

Hiking From the door of Chalet Le Moulin, hiking trails wind their way up the mountain through meadows and forests past old farm chalets in their summer grazing grounds. Just look out the maps and guide books in the chalet to help you discover this unspoiled alpine paradise. Our homemade book describes our favourite walks from the door and around the valley. By British standards the weather is glorious, especially May and June when the alpine meadows become carpets of wild orchids and crocuses. Butterflies flit across the scene and the sound of cow bells floats up from the valley on the warm air.

Activities in the valley - Several villages have beautiful parks with the following activities available:

• Swimming outdoors in lakes, and pools. These often have areas with qualified life guards.
• Tennis courts, trampolines, quad biking, archery, lake fishing
• Rock climbing from safe beginner to serious stuff
• Pony trekking
• Mountain Bike Hire and Trails

Bicycles and Biking exist in all forms. From the valleys, riverside tracks right to wild mountain trails. The newest adrenaline sport of downhill mountain biking even uses the ski lift network and is already legendary in biking magazines. Specialist bike shops with the latest equipment for hire are especially in the nearby villages of Les Gets and Morzine which use the lifts of the Ports du Soleil network.

Paragliding, try a trip with a qualified pilot for an unforgettable experience or a training course in Mieussy.

Canyoning, Hydro speed, River Boarding, Kayaking and Dingy Rafting take place in the frothy whitewater of our own little valley. River guides can look after you or take the family as a group.

Golf, popular courses at Les Gets (20 mins), and Chamonix (50 mins) and the famous International Evian golf course (45 minutes) draws film and golf celebrities to  their annual events.

Cycling exists in all its forms from hiring bikes round a village, to mountain biking trails and the adrenaline rush of downhill mountain biking.  Put on the helmet and away you go.

Paragliding/Flying - Sign up in the village paragliding shop and a pilot will take you on an unforgettable experience. On many days  there are up to a dozen paragliders in the sky

above the chalet.

Pony  trekking across the alpine meadows or book a lesson. Also trekking with donkeys.

Our neighbour will take your family on a picnic in the style of days gone by.
